About the ASA and CAP
Read about how the ASA and CAP function, and how the self-regulatory system works.
-
Self and co-regulation
Self-regulation means the ad industry has voluntarily established and paid for its own regulation. Co-regulation sees the ASA given responsibility on a day-to-day basis for regulating the content of TV and radio ads under contract from Ofcom.

Our purpose and strategy
Discover more about our purpose, ambition and strategy; to make every UK ad a responsible ad.
-
Our performance
The ASA and CAP report jointly on a yearly and half-yearly basis; here you'll find our latest performance statistics, copies of our Annual Reports.
-
Our funding
We’re funded by a levy on the cost of advertising space which is collected on our behalf by two funding bodies, guaranteeing our independence. We receive no Government funding and therefore our work is free to the tax payer.
