Background

Misleading advertising: Person(s) unknown trading as Healthy-You breaks UK advertising rules for making misleading efficacy claims about its detox foot patches on the ukhealthy-you.com website.

After reviewing the website this entry has been reissued on 15 April 2024 as Healthy-You continues to make claims that break the rules.

CAP and the ASA understand that the body’s liver and kidneys automatically detoxify and excrete many toxic materials, including metabolic wastes. To date, neither CAP nor the ASA have seen evidence that foot patches can remove toxins from the body.

The ASA has previously investigated an ad for a similar product and in the absence of evidence to support the claim that the detox patches aided detoxification, ruled that it was misleading.

Several unsubstantiated efficacy claims were made on the ukhealthy-you.com website including that detox patches can “remove accumulating toxins from your body” and help the body eliminate “brain fog, irritability, skin problems, muscle aches, body odor, insomnia, exhaustion, constipation, headaches, stubborn weight, anxiety and depression and hormonal abnormalities.”

These details shall remain in place until such time as Healthy-You has removed or appropriately amended the health-related claims on ukhealthy-you.com to ensure compliance with the CAP Code.
