This Advertising Guidance relates to front page flashes, used by newspaper and magazine publishers to draw attention to promotions such as token collection and “free inside” offers, by referring to them on the outside of the publication.
The guidance outlines the kind of information which should be stated on the front page of the newspaper or magazine, including all conditions that are likely to influence the consumer’s decision to purchase the publication.   For example, the purchase of several issues being necessary, geographical or other restrictions, a statement that it is necessary to claim an item by post, if not obvious, and the need to call a premium rate number to claim, should be stated clearly on the front page.
