The Portman Group, supported by the UK's leading drinks producers, is solely focused with the social responsibility issues surrounding alcohol.
The Portman Group’s Code of Practice is used to regulate alcohol marketing, not already subject to regulation by the ASA or Ofcom, including naming, packaging, sponsorship, point-of-sale and brand merchandising.
Their primary role is to:
- Promote best practice in alcohol social responsibility via actions by member companies
- Regulate the promotion and packaging of alcohol sold or marketed in the UK
- Encourage and challenge the entire alcohol industry to market its products responsibly
